Giving someone a house cleaning sounds like an odd present until you have received one. Then it makes complete sense — it is the rare gift that gives back time rather than adding another object to a home that already has enough of them.
We have been doing this in Orange County since 2006, and gift cleanings have become a steady part of what we do. Here is who they actually work for, and how to arrange one without it being awkward.
When It Genuinely Lands
New parents
This is the one where the gift does the most work. In the first months nobody has the energy to clean and nobody wants to ask for help. A cleaning arriving unprompted removes a job that has been quietly stressing both parents, and it does not need to be unwrapped, stored or thanked for twice.
Practical note: give it as a voucher without a fixed date. New parents cannot plan a Tuesday three weeks out, and a gift with a deadline becomes another thing to manage.
Someone who just moved in
A housewarming present that is not another candle. A deep clean before the furniture arrives — or right after the boxes are gone — is worth more than anything they would put on a shelf. If you know the move date, we can work around it.
This also works in reverse: a move-out clean for someone leaving a rental is a genuinely useful gift, because it is the difference between getting a deposit back and not.
Parents and grandparents
Mother's Day and Father's Day fall into the same trap every year — flowers that die and gadgets nobody asked for. A cleaning is the present people mention months later, particularly for anyone who has started to find the bathroom or the floors harder work than they used to be.
Worth saying plainly: for older relatives this is often the most useful thing you can give, and it lets you help without making a thing of it.
Someone recovering, or in the middle of something hard
Illness, surgery, a difficult stretch at work. This is where a cleaning stops being a nice gesture and becomes actual help. We keep these visits quiet and straightforward — no fuss, no conversation required.
Teachers, neighbours, anyone you owe a real thank-you
End of the school year, someone who has done you a genuine favour. A cleaning says thank you with something that costs them nothing to accept and takes real work off their week.
How It Works
Simple, and deliberately without gimmicks.
You choose the service. A regular visit from $120, or a deep clean from $249 for the first two hours. If you are not sure what their home needs, a deep clean is the safer choice — it covers inside the oven and fridge, inside cabinets, baseboards, window interiors and the things a routine visit never reaches.
We send you a card to give. Digital or printed, with no dates or expiry on it. The recipient books whenever suits them.
They call or book online. We arrange the visit directly with them, so you are not stuck coordinating diaries between two households.
Nothing is charged upfront. We confirm the price with you first — no card details taken at booking.
Getting the Amount Right
The most common question is how much to put on it, and the honest answer depends on the home rather than on what feels generous.
- $120 — a regular visit. Right for an apartment, condo or smaller home, or as a top-up for someone who already has cleaning.
- $249 — a deep clean, first two hours. This is the usual choice and covers most two- and three-bedroom homes reasonably.
- $350–$450 — a full deep clean of a larger house. Homes in Yorba Linda, North Tustin or Anaheim Hills are frequently in this range simply because they are bigger.
If the card does not cover the whole visit, we tell the recipient the difference before we start. Nobody gets an unexpected bill, and nobody finds out their gift fell short while we are already in the house.
Two Things Worth Knowing
Ask first if the home is sensitive about it. Most people are delighted. A few read it as a comment on their housekeeping. You know which one you are dealing with — and if you are unsure, framing it as "you deserve a break" rather than "your house needs it" solves the problem entirely.
Do not tie it to a fixed date. A gift someone has to use by a deadline turns into an obligation. Ours do not expire.
Arranging One
Call or text 657-557-0093, or book online and mention it is a gift. Tell us roughly the size of the home and who it is for, and we will suggest the right amount rather than selling you the biggest one.
