Thanksgiving is Thursday, November 26. If you are hosting this year, the house cleaning is one job you can hand off, as long as you book it early. The days right before the holiday are the first to fill up.
When to book
We clean Monday to Friday. For Thanksgiving, the best days are Monday, November 23 to Wednesday, November 25. A cleaning on Monday or Tuesday leaves you Wednesday for the shopping and the cooking. If that week is already busy for you, the week before works too.
What your guests will actually notice
Nobody opens your closets. Guests notice the kitchen, the bathroom they use, the dining area and the floors. That is where the time goes before a holiday:
- Kitchen and bathrooms cleaned top to bottom
- Baseboards, door frames and light switches wiped
- Ceiling fans and blinds dusted
- Floors vacuumed and mopped
Deep clean or regular clean?
If we have not cleaned your home before, the first visit is always a deep clean, from $249 for the first 2 hours with a team of two, then $100 for each additional hour. It brings the home to a proper baseline: baseboards, ceiling fans, blinds, window tracks, door frames and light switches. Those are exactly the places that show when the house is full and the afternoon light comes in low.
If you are already a regular client, your normal visit before the holiday is usually enough. Regular cleaning starts from $120 a visit.
Inside the oven and inside the fridge are your choice: we do them on request, and they add time, because they take considerable time to do properly. If you want the oven clean before the turkey goes in, tell us when you book so we can plan for it.
Three things to do yourself
- Clear the counters and the dining table the night before, so the time goes into cleaning, not tidying.
- Make room in the fridge before the big shop, so the old leftovers are gone before the new ones arrive.
- Put out the guest towels and soap after the cleaning, so the bathroom stays guest ready.
